Technology and Learning
As technology is an massive component of society today, it is important that teachers incorporate aspects into the classroom setting. The field of technology is ever growing and a large number of professions are continually integrating technology into their line of work. It is part of a teacher’s responsibility to help expose students to different forms of technology media to help prepare them for a future in a world that relies on electronic tools.
Technology in Physical Education
Using technology in a physical education classroom is a fairly new concept. However, with the development of portable devices such as iPods, heart rate monitors and handheld GPS unit’s it is helping health and physical education technology to become more wide spread and accessible. Thousands of Apps, software programs and fitness devices are making it more efficient and easy to incorporate technology into a physical education classroom. These advances in technology are also providing great resources for students to use outside the classroom in their daily fitness and health routines which helps promote a healthy lifestyle and life long praticipation.
Social Media in the Classroom
As we know, social media has changed the way we think about communication. There is an entire generation that has grown-up with this digital form of interaction and socialization, known as the ‘Social Media Kids’.They are using these online networking sites to socialize with friends, learning more about
others, gather information, development their self-identity and assist in the overall communication of information. Since social media is so widespread and has created such a large impact on children and teens it is a great option for teachers to incorporate into the classroom to enhance learning. Whether educators use it for class discussion, student reflection, assignment research or student awareness, using social media in the classroom is a great way to get students interested and engaged in learning.
